St. Alphonsa of the Immaculate Conception

St. Alphonsa was the first woman from India to be canonized as a saint. She was a member of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church and lived a life of deep spirituality and suffering. She was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI in 2008.

St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara

St. Chavara was a Syro-Malabar priest and social reformer. He co-founded the Congregation of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) and contributed significantly to education and the social upliftment of the Indian people. He was canonized in 2014 by Pope Francis.

Blessed Mariam Thresia

Blessed Mariam Thresia was born on 26 April 1876 as Thresia Mankidiyan in Kerala, India. Raised in the Syro-Malabar Rite of the Catholic Church, her parents named her in honour of St. Teresa of Avila, which would indicate the life of holiness and contemplation that Thresia would achieve.

St. Joseph Vaz

St. Joseph Vaz was a Goan priest who worked tirelessly in Sri Lanka to revive the Catholic faith among the people. He was canonized by Pope Francis in 2015. He is particularly venerated in Goa and Sri Lanka.

St. Gonsalo Garcia was born in India to Portuguese parents. He became a missionary in Japan and was martyred for his faith.
